Spirit Airlines adds new Kansas City-Phoenix flights – The Arizona Republic

Arizonans will soon have a new way to get to one of the nation’s most renowned hubs of jazz and barbecue.
Spirit Airlines will begin service to Kansas City, Missouri, from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. It will offer seasonal, once-daily flights starting in November.
Kansas City has long been a popular destination for travelers coming from Phoenix, and the new flights will offer more options to get there, said Pat Klein, director of the Kansas City Aviation Department.
Spirit’s announcement of the Phoenix-Kansas City route came not long after one of its closest low-cost competitors, Frontier Airlines, introduced 10 new routes out of Phoenix. Kansas City is one of them, but Frontier won’t start flying there until January 2023.

Spirit’s flights between Phoenix and Kansas City will begin Nov. 7.
A flight from Kansas City to Phoenix is available that day. The first Phoenix to Kansas City flight is available Nov. 8, according to Spirit’s website.
John Kirby, Spirit’s vice president of network planning, cited anticipation for a busy fall and winter holiday travel season as a motivator for adding the new flights as well as expanding Spirit’s service between Kansas City and Las Vegas to twice daily.
“We listened to our Kansas City guests and are excited to deliver more convenient options to vacation destinations in the Southwest,” Kirby said in a statement.
