There’s no shame in shopping for Thanksgiving the day before the holiday.
For some, it’s the only time they could stock up on the trimmings.
“Been busy, today was my only option,” shopper John Brunlieb said.
WISN 12 News spoke to several shoppers Wednesday at the Pick ‘n Save on 27th Street and College Avenue in Oak Creek grabbing the essentials.
“The usual traditional stuff, turkey, green bean casserole, glazed carrots, rolls, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie,” Brunlieb said.
And he wasn’t alone.
“My list, I have to get some fruit. I have to get muffins. I know it’s gonna be crazy in a couple of hours closer to 4 p.m., so I wanted to shop early,” customer Adam Awadalla said.
One thing on everyone’s list that no one could avoid is inflation driving up the cost of this year’s meal.
“A lot of prices have been really high, had to wait for a sale to come up,” shopper Donna Sacasa.
According to the 2022 Farm Bureau survey, the average cost for a Thanksgiving meal for 10 this year is up 20 percent.
On shopper told WISN 12 News, as long as they have their health, spending a few extra bucks is OK.
“That’s all right thank God we still living,” shopper Barbara Silas said.
Pick ‘n Save stores will be open until 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
As of Wednesday, fresh turkeys were still available.
