PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department unveiled a new ice cream truck in an effort to engage and interact with the community in a new refreshing way.
Phoenix Police Chief Jeri Williams introduced the new truck to a group of citizens on Saturday morning.
“Everyone loves ice cream, right?” Williams said.
The van was donated to the police department by Courtesy Chevrolet and ice cream treats were donated by AT&T.
“We are really working hard in this G.A.I.N. era and in this time to really engage the young people in the community,” Williams said.
The G.A.I.N. program was started to promote awareness safety and neighborhood unity and stands for Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods.
For those interested in hosting a G.A.I.N. event, applications can be found on the Phoenix Police website.
