Man fatally shot in west Phoenix near 91st Avenue, Lower Buckeye Road – AZCentral

A 30-year-old man was shot and killed early Thursday near 91st Avenue and North Whyman Avenue in Phoenix, and police are searching for the suspect.
Police arrested 31-year-old Kyle David Petty on Thursday afternoon on suspicion of murder, aggravated assault and armed robbery, according to Phoenix Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Maggie Cox.
A 30-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman in a vehicle flagged down officers shortly after 3 a.m. near 91st Avenue and West Lower Buckeye Road, according to Cox.
Petty was an acquaintance of the man and woman and had asked them for a ride, police said. While driving, Petty became upset at the pair for refusing to give him money.
Cox said the argument ended with Petty pointing the gun at the woman driving and then shooting the male victim in the passenger seat.
Phoenix Fire Department personnel took him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Petty fled the scene on foot and police found him nearby and took him into custody a few hours later, Cox said.
Police said there were “extended road restrictions” Thursday morning on South 91st Avenue from West Durango Street to West Lower Buckeye Road.
