'Immersive Nutcracker' is coming to Phoenix this Christmas – The Arizona Republic

Another immersive exhibition is coming to metro Phoenix – and it’s the first of its kind.
“The Immersive Nutcracker: A Winter Miracle” opens at Lighthouse ArtSpace in Scottsdale on Nov. 19. Tickets go on sale at 3 p.m. MST on Saturday, Aug. 26.  Tickets start at $29.99; save 10% on a package of four.
“Immersive Nutcracker” is presented by Lighthouse Immersive and Impact Museums, which produced “The Original Immersive Van Gogh,” “Immersive Klimt: Revolution,” “Immersive Monet & The Impressionists” and “Immersive King Tut: Boy. King. Hero.”
“Like so many others, I have grown up with the tradition of enjoying the Nutcracker story,” producer Svetlana Dvoretsky said in a news release. “This production does not replace any of those classics, but it provides a family-friendly experience that pays homage to the story’s ballet roots.”
Behind the scenes:Phoenix gets more immersive art shows than any city. Here’s why
The show features over 500,000 cubic feet of projections depicting five worlds: the Winter Forest, the Great Hall, Inside the Magical Christmas Tree, the World in Ice and Candy World.
The 30-minute show will present animated characters alongside footage of renowned Russian ballet dancers Denis Rodkin and Eleonora Sevenard.
The experience is set to the music of Peter IIlyich Tchaikovsky, who composed the “Nutcracker” score. Songs including “The March of the Toys” and “The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” will play as a backdrop to the 360-degree projection.
When: The show starts Nov. 19.
Where: Lighthouse ArtSpace, 4301 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale.
Admission: Tickets start at $29.99
