With the latest installment of NBA 2K being released, official ratings for each Phoenix Suns player has been revealed. Given the Suns had a fantastic regular season before flaming out in the playoffs, it was going to be interesting to see how much weight 2K put in the team’s disappointing finish.
The predictions were reasonable accurate, outside some slight differences here and there. Below is each individual player and there official rating compared to their predicted rating.
Devin Booker – official rating (91), predicted (91)
Chris Paul – official rating (90), predicted (88)
Deandre Ayton – official rating (85), predicted (87)
Mikal Bridges – official rating (83), predicted (85)
Cameron Johnson – official rating (80), predicted (83)
Cameron Payne – official rating (78), predicted (75)
Dario Saric – official rating (76), predicted (74)
Jae Crowder – official rating (76), predicted (76)
Torrey Craig – official rating (74), predicted (73)
Landry Shamet – official rating (73), predicted (75)
Damion Lee – official rating (73), predicted (73)
Bismack Biyombo – official rating (72), predicted (73)
Duane Washington Jr. – official rating (72), predicted (not given)
Josh Okogie – official rating (71), predicted (71)
Jock Landale – official rating (70), predicted (70)
Ish Wainright – official rating (70), predicted (not given)
Five players received the same rating as predicted. Booker being a 91 was correct, although it could be considered slightly low for a cover athlete. Lower down the list, Crowder at a 76 feels right after his relatively poor season in 2021-22. The same can be said for Damion Lee who played a reasonably insignificant role for the Golden State Warriors last season. Josh Okogie and Jock Landale were unsurprisingly given low ratings.
Four players were given a higher rating than predicted, led by All-Star Chris Paul. Payne may be the most fortunate, with a 78 appearing slightly high given he’s latter end of the season. Saric rightfully wasn’t penalised for missing the season, while Craig was rated one point above prediction.
Five players were rated below their prediction. The first thing that stands out is Johnson at an 80 – being just two higher than Payne feels like a crime. Ayton and Bridges were each two below as was Shamet, with Biyombo just one below.
Ratings are subject to update as the season progresses, with a number of Phoenix players expected to make jumps given their relative youth.
