Camarillo Throwback Thursday food truck event returns – VC Star

Camarillo’s food truck festival series returns from a brief hiatus to dish up food and drinks from over a dozen vendors.
Called Throwback Thursday, the first of three festivals will be June 30 at the historical Camarillo Ranch House from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Two more events are slated for July 28 and Aug. 25.
The pandemic waylaid the series for three years, and the public is ready for its return.
“People are wanting to come back and connect,” said Shelby Paul, a member of the Camarillo Ranch Foundation Board of Directors. “I think being isolated is not what we’re meant to be. Being out and connected is.”
Visitors can purchase grub from 16 food trucks and vendors offering dishes ranging from barbecue and tacos to desserts and Middle Eastern fare. Beer and wine will also be sold.

The free, family-friendly event will also feature a photo booth, live music and tours of the ranch house.
Once owned by Adolfo Camarillo, the historic landmark sits on over 4 acres. The Queen Anne-style mansion was built in 1892 and has been transformed into a museum. It’s surrounded by a barn, stables and gardens.
When the first Throwback Thursday festivals were held in 2018 and 2019, the public swarmed to the events. Paul said more than 1,000 people attended each festival. She anticipates the same reception this summer.
“It’s just a real casual, fun event for a Thursday night,” she said.
The Camarillo Ranch Foundation is also looking for about 12 volunteers to assist with setup and tear-down of the event. The organization also seeks businesses sponsors.
