After announcing its semifinalists last month, the James Beard Foundation has refined its national list to the cream of the crop.
The prestigious New York culinary nonprofit on Wednesday named its culinary finalists for 2022, with Arizona being well represented. Winners will be honored at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards ceremony on June 13 in Chicago.
The finalists were named during a live ceremony at Casa Paloma at El Chorro in Paradise Valley.
Four Arizona restaurants and chefs made the list of finalists. Seven Arizonans and four establishments in the state had been named as semifinalists last month.

The James Beard Foundation’s Restaurant and Chef Awards were established in 1991 and are dedicated to James Beard — an Oregon-born chef and culinary instructor who pioneered television cooking shows — who died in 1985.
