Dear Parents & Students,
 
There are lots of events coming up that we hope you can attend. Our first early release day is September 15. Important information, including suicide prevention resources, is below.
 
Suicide Prevention Day – Sept. 10 
Recognizing when people in our lives are struggling with emotional pain and helping them feel comfortable to talk about it can help prevent mental health crisis, including suicide. Learning the warning signs, knowing how to start a conversation, and knowing where to get professional help can make a powerful life changing difference.  Complete the Request for Support Form if you are a student or if you know a student who needs help. Additional Suicide Prevention Resources from our partner, Care Solace, are HERE and a suicide prevention video is HERE.
 
Bilingual Parent Advisory Council Meeting – Sept. 13
The Bilingual Parent Advisory Council (BPAC) invites all JTHS families to their meeting on September 13 at 7 p.m. in the Joliet Central Media Center.  To learn more about BPAC, complete the form HERE.
 
Early Release SIP Day – Sept. 15
September 15 is a School Improvement Day and early release for students.  Central, West, and Pathway students are dismissed from school at 11:45 a.m., AVAC students are dismissed at 11:30 a.m., and Transition Center students are dismissed at 11 a.m.
 
Grandparents Raising Children Support Group – Sept. 20.
The group meets September 20 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the JTHS Administrative Center. All grandparents and individuals raising non-biological children are welcome.
 
JTHS Board of Education Meeting – Sept. 20
The next meeting is September 20 at 7 p.m. at the JTHS Administrative Center. Agendas are posted at least 48 hours prior to the meeting HERE. Meetings are live streamed HERE. Individuals wishing to make public comments must sign up upon arrival before 6:50 p.m.
 
8th Grade PSAT Parent Webinar – Sept. 21
Are you a parent of an 8th grader who will attend Central, West, or Pathways next year? If so, please attend our webinar on Sept. 21.  More info HERE.
 
Critical Conversation – Sept. 24
Our Critical Conversation Series is from 9 a.m. to noon on September 24, October 15, and November 19 at the Spanish Community Center, 309 N. Eastern Avenue in Joliet. More info HERE.

Will County Clerk Student Ambassador Program Kickoff – Sept. 27
The Will County Clerk Student Ambassador Program is a non-partisan program for juniors and seniors that provides hands-on experience with the election process while engaging, recruiting, and registering fellow students to vote.  A Pizza & Politics Kick-Off is September 27 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Will County Clerk’s Office. Students can register through the Student Ambassador Program Registration Form.
 
Know Your Community Event – Sept. 29
A “Know Your Community” event is September 29 at 7 p.m. in the Central Campus cafeteria. The event is open to the entire community and includes resources from our community partners. More info HERE.
 
Pink Heals – Oct. 4
The Pink Heals Volleyball fundraiser is October 4. If you wish to donate to this event, contact Tara Mikuzis-Litwicki at (815) 774-1683 or tmikuzis@jths.org.  More info HERE.
 
Partnership Recruitment Event – Oct. 7
Parents and business/community partners who want to get involved in our high schools are invited to attend our recruitment event on October 7 at the administrative center. Breakfast is provided. More info HERE.
 
Trunk O Treat – Oct. 19
A Trunk or Treat is taking place at West from 4 to 6 p.m. on October 19. There is no charge to attend. The fun-filled event includes candy, games, decorated cars and more. Additional Info HERE.
 
Senior Graduation – May 20
Senior graduation is May 20 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Seniors choose their preferred ceremony time through a link available in the spring.  More info HERE.
