Airport dining guide: Terminal 4 offers taste of Phoenix – The Arizona Republic

Holiday travel. It’s horrific.
Long lines, crowded spaces and cranky companions. The journey is bearable only because of the destination.
But for those flying through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, good food can help alleviate travel stress, especially during the busy holiday season.
Thanks to a two-year renovation, the airport now has popular local restaurants and national names where there once were tired fast-food spots and kiosks.
Now, locals and travelers can eat Barrio Cafe’s tacos or Cowboy Ciao’s Stetson Chopped Salad before departing or after landing. They also can find the familiar. Smashburger and Yogurtology are in the food court, before security, on level 3 of Terminal 4. Peet’s Coffee & Tea is in the same terminal near gates D1-D8 and A15-A30.
Terminal 4 is home to US Airways/American Airlines, Southwest Airlines and other carriers. Because it accounts for 80 percent of the airport’s passenger traffic, that’s where we focused our dining guide.
So, wherever you’re flying for the holidays, don’t worry about eating before you get to the airport. Look for these 28 local eateries, order one of the suggested dishes and get a drink. You’ll probably need one.
